Our Story

Hi, I’m Alexis Wu, the editor-in-chief and founder of The Bokeh Review! I built this magazine from the ground up one sunny afternoon, dreaming of a place where people like me — young, underrepresented creators craving a community for lasting recognition and support — could find a home for their words, their artistry. As an avid submitter myself, I saw the same barriers showing up again and again, disproportionately affecting ethnic minorities, teens, and low-income creatives. That’s where the idea was born for a magazine that would eliminate those barriers, showcasing exceptional art and writing while prioritizing people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to such a platform. It’s taken many hours of effort, but I am delighted to share The Bokeh Review with the world. I’m excited to see where it leads me — and I’m just as excited to see where it leads you. After all, the youth is the future. Art is the future. We are the future.
